Thomas Kohnstamm in Patagonia
Thomas Kohnstamm first visited Patagonia a decade ago: hiking and doing some ill-advised mountain camping with little more than a blue plastic tarpaulin. The rugged landscape struck him as an extreme version of his native Washington State. Thomas has now returned - overloaded with skiing and hiking equipment - to research the region for Lonely Planet's Chile & Easter Island guidebook.
